DrumJam is a percussion and drum app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch that offers a unique and inspiring experience. Created by renowned percussionist Pete Lockett and Sonosaurus LLC, the developer of ThumbJam, this app is a game-changer in the world of percussion. It provides a hands-on approach to rhythm, making it suitable for beginners, songwriters, producers, percussion students, music teachers, and drum circle facilitators.

Pete Lockett is a seasoned percussionist who has collaborated with top artists such as Peter Gabriel, Bjork, Robert Plant, and Dido. He has also worked on film soundtracks for five James Bond movies. DrumJam gives users direct access to Pete's rhythm factory, featuring individually recorded percussion parts. Unlike generic sequenced patterns, these are authentic audio recordings that can be played at various tempos on your mobile device.

With his wealth of studio experience, Pete has mastered the art of layering different percussion instruments to create mesmerizing rhythms. DrumJam offers a wide range of looped instruments to choose from, including shakers, congas, Indian ghatam, pop drum set, Arabic req, Carnatic kanjira, Cuban bongos, Latin cowbells, rock drum kit, seed shakes, and surdu. Each instrument has up to 20 different patterns to explore. The app allows you to adjust levels, pan settings, mute or solo specific parts, and apply a low-pass filter for more control over each individual component. For a funkier touch, you can use the random button to introduce unexpected changes or set the app to automatically randomize periodically.

In addition to looped instruments, DrumJam offers a variety of solo instruments that allow you to jam over your own created grooves. These include ethnic percussion instruments like Kanjira, Ghatam, Djembe, Bongos, Dube, Cajon, and more. The app also features custom drum kits from acclaimed drummers like Johnny Rabb, Russ Miller, KJ Sawka, Dave Langguth, Steve Sidelnyk, and Scott Pellegrom. With intuitive quantize options, even beginners can quickly create funky grooves by simply dragging their fingers across the screen.

DrumJam offers a range of effects such as filter, pitch bend, delay, reverb, lofi, and distortion for the solo instruments. These effects add a new dimension to live performances. Additionally, the app allows you to save and export your loops or performances as 44.1kHz 16-bit WAV files, which can be imported into your preferred digital audio workstation (DAW) or other audio apps. This feature is ideal for studio use and can serve as the foundation for new song ideas.

DrumJam supports various methods of exporting audio, including iTunes file sharing, direct opening in other apps, email, AudioCopy, and SoundCloud. The app also supports background audio, Audiobus, Inter-app-audio, and MIDI implementation. You can sync DrumJam with other devices using MIDI clock sync or trigger the solo kits externally via MIDI input. Additionally, you can output your live pad performance through MIDI. The app also offers support for Ableton Link.
